An excited Preity Zinta left for Venice to receive the prestigious World Diamond Group Platinum Award for Peoples’ Friendship, which was bestowed on her last evening.
The award is conferred by the World Diamond Group as part of their mission to improve friendship among people across the globe, on those for their contribution to the harmony and reconciliation of people of diverse cultures. This effort is being made to create a completely new society where peace and prosperity would be the ultimate culture.
By presenting the award on this day, the World Diamond Group not only commemorated the 10th anniversary of the ‘Kinéo Diamanti al Cinema’, but also stressed on their belief that a better world can be developed with lasting friendships and respect for human rights.
The award is being combined with the glorious ‘White Olive Tree’, a priceless olive tree sculpture carved out of marble and platinum with diamonds embellishing it with exceptional beauty.
The White Olive Tree is a creation of the Art Director of the World Diamond Group, Agatino Cappella, a theologian and artist. The Olive Tree comprises of a hand carved Carrara marble tree trunk with platinum branches and leaves weighing 3,333 grams and 3,003 diamonds totalling a sum of 366 carats, of which 2,503 are in marquise cut and 500 82 facets new round cut diamonds.
This magnificent sculpted award, which was created at the factory of Roberto Casarotto, will be displayed at the Palazzo Lascaris in Turin after its exposure at the Venice Film Festival where after, it will travel across the globe to other renowned venues for display.
The olive tree signifies peace and light, which is why it has been chosen as the symbol for this award that focuses on peace for all. It is a highly respected tree in the Mediterranean representing purity. Therefore keeping its symbolism in mind, the creator has used marble and platinum to highlight purity while the diamonds signify everlasting light.
The splendour of the White Olive Tree Award makes it a befitting honour for a woman who believes strongly in her values even when faced with the most challenging situations.
Preity Zinta has made us Indians proud by bagging this prestigious award and more so for being the first person to receive the World Diamond Group Platinum Award for Peoples’ Friendship.
